Hello people, everyday I see people asking about what business to invest in with so and so amount. People are intresested in info that will help them better thier lot in life.that is what this thread is about. It will help people make informed business decisions.
So are you involved in livestock business? Do you work in a farm or you just buy farm produce? May be you only pass by a livestock market and know a bit of what happens there. Chip in your bit please lets discuss livestock business in any of our major cities particularly poultry business in Abuja, Lagos, Kaduna, Jos, Ibadan and PortHarcourt under the following headings.
1.Concentration; Which areas of town are farms concentrated and what are the average size of the farms.
2. Location of Markets for farm inputs(feeds, drugs, equipments etc.) and products.
3. Price

In Benue state, there are livestock farms scattered in nearly every town.
I know of a cattle market in Katsina-ala and Makurdi. Poultry farms typically stock less than 10000 birds though a number of them are out of business. Middlemen weekly bring in thousands of crates of eggs into the state from neighboring state like enugu and jos.
Eggs sell for between 700-800/crate while a 2kg live weight broiler sell for between 1200-2000 naira.
Of all the eateries in the state, only a few like titogate and edomat patronise local farmers.
Dealers of lifestock inputs include Jonny, Omega and others in Makurdi, Frankama, Cyrok, all season in Gboko, Madam Tibor in Katsina-ala.
Feeds that are readily available here are majorly vital feeds.
