Hello Peeps,
First of all, my greetings to everyone, nobody will not appreciate good and wonderful opportunities especially in terms of a scholarship, once you a scholar atleast it reduces the cost of parental funding of education for his/her ward. Lyceum of the Philippines University is one of the best schools in the Asian Pacific, and Lyceum International Maritime Academy being one of its most popular campus in terms of maritime studies due to its efficient , practical and education of marine professionals.
Recently, about 1500 International students from Nigeria were sent to different University campuses in the Phillipines to study different courses in marine, each of the campuses were Cebu, Pimsat and LIMA campuses, studies went well for all the student but due to the fact that LIMA was a political school in which some Nigerians didnt know, due to misbehaviour and misconducts some were sent back without even given the opportunity to explain themselves, they were treated like criminals though others were wrong. Things started going wrong when Nigerian students were appointed OCC (Officer in Crew of Cadets) of which some were from Maritime Oron, and a new Dean was appointed.
The last batch of students start running with their luggages from the school gate to the school premises after boarding about 17hours flight to the Philippines without even welcoming them, they new set of students in LIMA campuses till today suffer what we call “ faterlity” of which some faint in the process, some wounded etc, i call on the Nigerian Government to please come and address the issues we are having in this campuses because right now its a battle zone between the students and the authorities.
I think its good to be a scholar but when a scholar is treated like a criminal without rest of mind, it turns something else, yes we all know Nigerians are stubborn, a father can correct his son by beating and then calling him back to himself and not threatening, infact everyday we are either threatened to be sent back home, insulted and vice versa, can we see what is happening to our international waters because of foreigners?
Its high time the students sent for training be addressed because some of us are even regreting joining the scholarship, not that they dont want to study but because they are not treated well, recently the faulty alarm system malfunctioned of which the school management knew but the newly appointed Dean didnt know, but the student were blamed for triggering the alarm and were not issued shore pass for weeks, its rather a pity because if a one to one dialogue is granted, maybe the issues of the students will be addressed, please i call on the body supporting this international students in philppines to find a medium to also check for the students needs so as to have a good future mariners in the nigerian waters. We came to the Philippines to study and not for any kind of trouble.
