We are proud to announce the winners for the Electronic Sports World Cup 2008 Nigeria Maiden edition. More than a 100 gamers participated in the Qualifies which brought about 24 Finalist competing in the Grand Finale held at the indoor Sports Hall, University of Lagos. More than 450 spectators graced the Grand finale event and were able to view the games on a Mega Screen sponsored by Mobile Screens and Sounds Limited and the Stage was sponsored by Total Consult. The 1st among the three disciplines this year would be representing Nigeria at the World Finale coming this August 25-28 where the Grand prize is $250,000. They include:

Oluruntoba Ehi Pro evolution Soccer

Obu Chukwuma Warcraft III, The Frozen Throne

Osunlaja Oluwaseyi Trackmania Nations Forever


We look forward to bring home the glory this August.

Perhaps if some idiot hadn't said that the only soccer game on show would be (the vstly more unpopular) Fifa 2008 as against Pro Evo, you'd have had more participants.


That was you, wasn't it? It pays to know more about the competition you're touting.

Finally, please be more smart in your game choices. Any ape knows that there's no world gaming convention/competition without a First person Shooter. There are hundreds of UT, Halo and Call of Duty 4 fans in Naija. What stopped you from throwing 'em in?
