According to a recent BBC documentary "the world's busiest maternity ward" is in the Philippines- the Dr Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital in Manila.
300 mothers arrive at the government-run hospital everyday and have to share a delivery room with at least 5 other birthing women.

The head nurse in Manila's busiest maternity ward estimates that she has delivered 200,000 babies during her 28 years career. On a busy day, a hundred babies are born at the Jose Fabella hospital and women in labour lie 4 or 5 to a bed.

The documentary profiles the lives of 3 different women. Rosalyn, whose 7th child will have to survive on less than a pound a day; Rose, a middle-class mum who can afford the best care in the world; and Junalyn, on a journey out of the slums to a better life.
