Fans of the PlayStation brand have started getting their hands on the hotly anticipated PlayStation 4 console. Over one million users have per-ordered the console while Sony anticipates sales of the PS4 to hit 3 Million by the end of the year. Meanwhile, Industry analysts believe 5 million units of the PlayStation 4 would be sold by the end of March 2014.

The PlayStation 4 is a monster gaming device capable of 1.84 teraflops of total computations; this is only made possible by an 8 core AMD CPU and an AMD GPU using AMD’s Graphics Core Next. The PlayStation 4 has a Blu-ray drive and supports Blu-ray movie playback. The PS4 is built to use 8 GB of GDDR5 and has a standard internal storage of 500 GB.

The PS4 lacks backward compatibility support with the PS3. Sony has made an alternative to play older games on the PS4 by using “Gaikai” to stream games to the PS4.

The PS4 controller has a light bar which can be turned off, the light bar can be used to signify health of a character or any idea a developer can think of. It also has a touchpad in the middle of the controller to enable “mouse” support in apps

Prior to the PS3 launch, a new controller was designed but failed to hit the mainstream market. Sony subsequently released the PS3 with the traditional DualShock 3 controller. The DualShock 4 controller for the PS4 is the first major upgrade the gaming controller has received since it was released in 1997.
