Messi was brought on for Eto’o with three minutes remaining against Albacete, wearing the number 30 shirt. He scored with his first touch, but the goal was disallowed. Then in stoppage time, after a similar move, Ronaldinho lifted the ball over two defenders and Messi chipped it into the net for his first Barça goal.

10th March 2007 – Hat-trick against Real Madrid.
He starred in one of the most exciting Barça-Madrid matches in history. Messi scored three times, including a late equaliser to salvage a 3-3 draw.

18th April 2007 – Goal against Getafe.
Messi’s stunning solo goal, that saw him beat five opposing players before firing past Abbondanzieri, sent shockwaves around the world of football as the Argentine star rose up a level.

1st February 2009 – Goal 5000 in La Liga for Barcelona.
Messi wrote his name in the Barcelona history books by scoring the club’s 5000th goal in the league. It came in Santander, in a game which saw Barça come back with two second-half strikes from the Argentine.

27th May 2009 – His first Champions League final.
In the 70th minute of the game in Rome Xavi found Messi who headed in to make it 2-0 against Manchester United. The Argentine lost his right boot in the process and ran off celebrating with the boot in his hand.

19th December 2009 – Kings of the world.
