Feasibility Report on Carbon Steel pipes Production Plant

Introduction

The Project is in the Production of carbon steel pipes in Nigeria on a small to medium scale using fully automated machines.

The overriding objectives of the steel industry is to be able to meet the demands for cast iron, rods and bars, wires, structural steels, flat sheet steels, and also the entire spectrum classified as flats, stainless and other special alloy steels, rails and pipes and plates in its various sizes in width and thickness.

The steel sector so widely recognized as essential for industrialization, but largely neglected, is gradually receiving attention. Steel, in its entire ramification, is regarded as the pivot around which economic activities and development revolve worldwide. Its relevance has universal appeal, but for some inexplicable reasons, Nigeria, despite of it’s gifting in this resource, has not lapped on its advantage. But all that is changing now with steel plants being built all over the country

The Nigerian Carbon Steel Market
welded pipes is the biggest market in Nigeria and the biggest users are the construction industry which consumes about 48% of steel demand in Nigeria, machinery, appliances, furniture and fabrication 34%, oil and gas 18%.

Nigeria’s demand for carbon steel pipes has risen to 1.2 million tons annually. This huge demand is 80% largely met by importation and the rest manufactured by the few available plants in the country. Currently about 700 million Dollars is spent annually on importation of carbon steel pipes in to the country.

The uses

Welded steel pipes are commonly used for furniture and for the building industry. In this respect the demand for smaller size carbon steel pipes and tubes is mainly influenced by the rate of growth of both the Metal craft and furniture and construction sector of the country which this plant is intended to take full advantage of.

The factory will produce carbon steel pipes in the rare specifications as low as For Round Pipe:Φ8—Φ50.8 mm which gives it the added advantage to be used for the growing black furniture and construction industry.

Plant and production Capacity

The capacity of the plant in terms of line speed can vary from 8 to 10 meters per minute. In terms of weight, production capacity reaches between 4 and 10 tons per day based on single shift of 8 hours operation and producing for 275 annual working days,
