Get a Vehicle Inspection Get a Vehicle Inspection If you are close to making a purchase, don’t miss the critical step of taking the vehicle to your local mechanic to check it for hidden mechanical issues. AutoCheck vehicle history reports can show you reported issues, but it does not account for any issues that haven’t been reported to private and government sources. A good mechanic can detect deferred maintenance as well as current issues such as a burned-out check-engine or antilock braking system light that could be part of a bigger problem. These problems could lead to hidden costs and may even diminish the value of the vehicle. Make sure to have any used vehicle you're considering to buy inspected. Even if you are buying from a dealership, always have a nonaffiliated mechanic look over the car. http://www.carxus.com/Used-Car/Buy-Used-Hyundai-Excel-Car.html |

Run a Visual Check Perform a Visual Check of the Vehicle You’ve run the report, the vehicle checks out and you are ready to take time out of your day to go see the vehicle. You can look for yourself to make sure you are catching everything you can about the vehicle, including: Waiting for the rain to stop before you trek out to the dealership or seller’s home. A wet car can hide a lot of paint and body issues. Taking the car on local streets and a highway to get a feel for different speeds. Testing all the switches and knobs. www.auctionexport.com |

If you are one of the millions of consumers who are not paying cash for your vehicle outright, you will need to look into financing. It is important first to make sure you have a contract that spells out exactly the price being paid for the vehicle. The contract should include any dealership fees or state fees. Make sure the VIN is included and correct on the document and that it states the vehicle is being sold “as-is” if from a private seller. Banks, credit unions and dealerships all offer car loans. You should never focus solely on the monthly payment; it is important to consider the total price of the car and the terms of the loan. You should multiply the monthly payment amount by the term of the loan to find out the true cost of the vehicle transaction. http://www.autocheck.com/vehiclehistory/autocheck/en/autoshoppers-guide#find-the-right-car |

Once you decide to enter the market for a used vehicle, make sure you check your credit score to see what type of financing for which you qualify. The better your credit score, the more competitive the interest rate you can receive. You can check your local banks and credit unions for finance rates; you also can shop financial institutions online and get preapproval for a specific loan amount. Often, you may find the best finance rate at the dealership, since they have relationships with many lenders that they work with every day. Regardless of where you secure your loan, you should make sure to do the math and figure out how much you will pay for the vehicle over time. You should be clear on whether you are comfortable with the amount. http://www.autocheck.com/vehiclehistory/autocheck/en/autoshoppers-guide#find-the-right-car |

Accident or Vehicle Damage Reported accidents or damage events are a result of vehicle collisions or other non-collision incidents such as vandalism or theft. Not all accidents or damage events are reported to AutoCheck. Certain accident or damage events are reported by the source to have resulted in minor, moderate or severe damage to the vehicle, or the events are calculated by AutoCheck to have resulted in minor, moderate or severe damage based on the information reported. It is recommended to have pre-owned vehicles inspected by a third party prior to purchase. www.autocheck.com |

Where Can I Find the VIN? The VIN can be found by looking at the dashboard on the driver's side of the vehicle. The easiest way to view it is to stand outside the vehicle on the driver's side and look at the corner of the dashboard where it meets the windshield. If the VIN cannot be found there, open the driver's side door and look at the door post (where the door latches when it is closed). It is likely that the VIN will also be displayed in this location. VIN Decode Explained What do the numbers and letters in a VIN mean? What do the 17 digits in a VIN mean? See the breakdown below of the meaning behind each segment of the VIN: http://www.autocheck.com/vehiclehistory/autocheck/en/vinbasics#decode

Re: Learn About Title Brands And Say Goodbye To Guesswork by CarXus: 4:43pm On Jun 15, 2016 |
What if the VIN is not 17 characters long? Double-check to make sure that you have the right VIN and have copied it down correctly. Once you have verified that the VIN is definitely less than 17 characters, the VIN is most likely from a pre-1981 vehicle. Prior to 1981, VINs varied in length from 11 to 17 characters. AutoCheck can only report on vehicles that use a 17 character VIN. Therefore, information on vehicles manufactured before 1981 is limited. http://www.autocheck.com/vehiclehistory/autocheck/en/vinbasics#decode |

Protect Yourself from Odometer Fraud What is odometer fraud? Unfortunately, there are a large number of private sellers and retailers who practice the act of rolling back or "clocking" a vehicle’s odometer. Because low mileage is an attractive quality in a used vehicle, scammers sometimes misrepresent the vehicle by tampering with the odometer to give the illusion that the vehicle was driven less than it actually was. As a result, a buyer may pay more for a vehicle than it is worth, and may also spend more money on the vehicle’s maintenance over time because of the unseen wear and tear. http://www.autocheck.com/vehiclehistory/autocheck/en/odometer-fraud |
