Real Madrid's director of football Miguel Perdaza is hopeful the Portugal captain's injury will not prove serious after he continued his exceptional goalscoring form on Saturday

Real Madrid's director of football Miguel Pardeza has described Cristiano Ronaldo as "a turning point in the history of football" after the team's win over Almeria on Saturday.

Ronaldo opened the scoring before being forced off with a thigh problem early in the second half, before goals from Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, Isco and Alvaro Morata sealed an emphatic win.

Pardeza admits he is hopeful Ronaldo's injury proves not to be serious due to the difference he makes on the pitch in a Madrid shirt.

Speaking to the club's official website, Prdeza commented: "The injury is a nuisance and we cannot know the extent of the hit until we have a scan result, hopefully it is not too bad.
"Cristiano is an extraordinary player who we need on the pitch and not outside it.

"He is a player who will mark a turning point in the history of football. We can only be thankful that he is with us."

Pardeza also praised the club's international stars for their level of performance following a gruelling break with their national sides, stating: "Many of the players have played in important World Cup matches, which is both physically and psychologically demanding. Under those conditions it is important to note the professionalism of the players to achieve a good result."

Carlo Ancelotti also recieved recognition for putting his faith in youngsters such as Alvaro Morata, Jese Rodriguez and Casemiro, who all impressed on Saturday.

"The youngsters have done a great job, they have proven that they can meet people’s expectation and those of the coach when he decides to play them," added Pardeza.
