SUPER Eagles’ Goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, who last conceded in the league on September 15, was in imperious form yet again as he helped his side claim all three points that consolidated their place in the upper rungs of the table.

The 31-year-old former Enyimba goalkeeper was called to duty three times by Tolouse’s attackers and came out with top marks to help his side to an important win that means Lille continue to stay in second place, with 30 points from 14 matches.

Enyeama’s good run also means he now needs to keep two more clean sheets in the league to claim the record of going the longest number of minutes without conceding in the French top flight.

PSG’s Italian goalkeeper, Salvatore Sirigu currently holds the record having gone 948 minutes without conceding in Ligue 1 between November 17, 2012 and February 8, 2013.

Enyeama has now gone 855 minutes without conceding. The biggest threat to him breaking that record is expected to come at the Grand Stade Lille Métropole (Villeneuve d’Ascq) on December 3 when Lille hosts Olympic Marseille on match day 16.

Remarkably, Enyeama does not need to go the entire 90 minutes against Olympic Marseille without conceding to break the record. If he does not concede inside the first four minutes of the encounter against the country’s best supported club, he will go into the history books for all the right reasons.

The Super Eagles stand in keeper however told supersport.com recently that he is not thinking about the record.

“I don’t keep statistics. I am surprised you just read out the facts for me. Honestly, I wasn’t even aware because I just go out to play football,” he said.

Enyeama made his debut for Nigeria in 2002 and has since gone on to make appearances for the Super Eagles.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles’ skipper believes the class of Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and Emmanuel Emenike will propel Nigeria to glory at the Brazil 2014 World Cup.

The African champions have qualified for their fifth World Cup and Enyeama has picked several players, led by Chelsea midfielder, Mikel, to get the team to shine in Brazil next year.

“I pray that Mikel Obi will be in his best shape and (Victor) Moses plus Emenike will all be in their true elements by the time the World Cup will start in Brazil,” Enyeama told Sporting Life in an interview.

“These three men are those that we are banking on because if they are in top shape, they will help us to get a rhythm and also they make things happen. They make the difference in important matches.”

Emenike has been the Eagles reliable goals machine, while Mikel and Moses have brought their quality to bear on the team since Nigeria won a third AFCON in South Africa in February.

The Lille goalkeeper also singled out up and coming Lazio youngster, Ogenyi Onazi, who has been on superb form lately.

“Onazi is also coming up greatly,” remarked the stand-in Eagles skipper, who has also been on great form for title-chasing Lille in the French Ligue 1 this season.

“I pray that they all stay injury-free and are in top shape ahead of the World Cup.”

Brazil 2014 will be Enyeama’s third World Cup after he took his chance at the 2002 World Cup group game against England.
