BREAKING NEWS from Akure; the Ondo state capital has it that the Deji of Akure, Adebiyi Adesida is dead.
According to sources from the Deji’s Palace in Akure, the Ondo State Capital, the Monarch who was installed in 2010 died early hours of today (Sunday).

A paramount ruler of the ancient community of Akureland, Oba Adebiyi Adesida is dead. The Oba died after a brief illness, DailyPost has learnt.

Speaking with our reporter, a family source who preferred not to be mentioned in print revealed that late Oba Adesida last attended a public function in Lagos where he celebrated the marriage ceremony of his son, Adetunji Oluwagbemiga two weekends ago.

Another source at Deji’s Palace in Akure told our correspondent in Yoruba language that, “Oba ti w’aja’ meaning, the ‘the King is gone’.

He also disclosed that the Monarch died in his palace after efforts by palace guards tried to save him failed.

The Monarch who was born into the Ojijigogun royal family ascended the throne on August 12, 2013. He was recalled from London, after the former Deji was dethroned for abusing his wife.
