Sleep is a naturally recurring state
characterized by reduced or absent
consciousness, relatively suspended
sensory
activity, and inactivity of nearly all
voluntary
muscles. It is a heightened anabolic state,
accentuating the growth and rejuvenation
of the immune, nervous, skeletal and
muscular systems.
Experts suggest that an individual should
have a minimum of Six hours sleep each
day.
Not having enough sleep have been
linked
with Increased risk of motor vehicle
accidents, risk for psychiatric conditions,
depression, slow thinking, headache etc…

But sometimes, even after a stressful day
at
work, and you just want to sleep off, it
could
be difficult to sleep, here are some tips
that
could help you sleep easy.
1. Stop Thinking.
Most people are in the habit of thinking a
lot
when it’s time to sleep, they begin to
make
plans for the next day before they sleep
and
they do not know that, when your mind is
not totally as peace, you won’t be able to
sleep. So for sleep to come in, you must
try
to blank your mind.
2. Take Your Bath.
This isn’t compulsory, but to be able to
sleep
fast most times, you need to take a
shower.
3. Be Comfortable.
Don’t try to fall asleep on the couch out
of
laziness, make sure you are dressed on an
easy outfit that would free your body,
ensure the temperature is perfect for
you,
then go to your bed and sleep. Always
choose the right position that works best
for you, whether you’re a hip, back, or
stomach sleeper. Also, make sure your
pillow
is neither too flat nor too high because
either may put strain on your neck.
4. Switch Off The Light.
Most people find it easier to sleep
without
the lights on, but if you are finding it
difficult
to sleep with the lights on, try and switch
it
off and see if it helps.
5. Play Slow Songs or “Blue”.
If you keep getting distracted by an
annoying sound, play some slow songs or
“blues” they would help calm you down
as
well. Also ambient noise like raindrops,
running water, wind, or binaural beats are
all sounds that help some people sleep.
See
if you can download a free app with these
features.
6. Do Some “Boring” Things.
One Man’s meat is another Man’s poison,
to
some people reading is boring, and they
often fall asleep when ever a pick up a
book,
you can try that. You can also play games
like solitaire, cross word, sudden etc..
7. Put Pillow Between You Legs.
This is necessarily for people who can’t
sleep without someone next to them, but
putting a pillow between your legs would
help reduce the stress or pain for those
who
have stomach or back pains.
