The first fixture of the new year will see the blues make the trip to St. Mary's stadium, and will hope to bring to naught the bad memories of QPR taking away the 3 points at Stamford Bridge in the opening match of 2013.
Southampton host Chelsea on New Year's Day hoping to improve on a run of just one victory in eight games.

The Saints reached as high as third position in the Premier League table earlier in the campaign, but five points from a possible 24 have seen them fall down to ninth place.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino welcomes Morgan Schneiderlin back from suspension, while Nathanial Clyne could return in defence.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will be in confident mood after witnessing his side record a 2-1 triumph over Liverpool on Sunday.

However, the Blues will be without the suspended David Luiz for the trip to St Mary's Stadium, while Branislav Ivanovic and Frank Lampard are injury doubts after being withdrawn at the weekend.

Zimbabwean prophet predicts
Liverpool to win title
30 Dec 2013 09:34:23
A youthful Zimbabwean prophet
Eubert Angel has prophesied that
Liverpool will win the English
Premier League title this season.
Angel who is the founder of Spirit
Embassy church and once lived in
Manchester is widely known for
various football prophesies.
In May 2012 Angel prophesied that
Chelsea would beat Liverpool to
win the FA Cup a few hours before
kickoff.
Chelsea went on to win 2-1 after
he had correctly spelt the scoreline
and gave exact goal descriptions.
He was again on point when he
foretold Manchester United’s
league glory last season.
A self-confessed Manchester
United fan, he however sees
Liverpool bagging it this season.
“Liverpool, I am with you this year
and God has shown me he is
returning you to your glory days,”
he said.
It would be Liverpool’s 19th
league title and their first since the
1989/1990 season.
Early this month Angel also
correctly prophesised the exact
day, date and time former South
African President Nelson Mandela
would die.

Southampton has played 9 English Premier League matches this season on St Mary’s Stadium. On home ground Southampton has won 4, drawn 3 and lost 2 matches. This ranks the Saints 8th in home team performance in the English Premier League.

The Saints have scored at least two goals in six of their last seven home games in the Premier League.

Morgan Schneiderlin has returned following a suspension and should take either Ward-Prowse or Cork's place in midfield.

Chelsea has played 9 English Premier League matches this season away from home. On away ground Chelsea has won 3, drawn 3 and lost 3 matches. This ranks the Blues 9th in away team performance in the English Premier League.

The Blues are undefeated in nine of their last ten games against Southampton in all competitions.

Ramires returns from suspension but David Luiz has picked up a one match ban so it will be a like-for-like swap in midfield.
