WHAT A MYSTERY NIGHT! (Xmas poem)

What a mystery night of shalom!
The radiant lone star of the night!
The singing angels of the sky!
The ’doring shepherds of the field!

Heavens exhorting us to come
To come humbly and humbly bow
To him the shepherd of our souls
For peace of our souls to receive.

But empty-handed we go not;
So, our humility the gold;
So, our hearty smiles the incense;
So, our love, above all, the myrrh.

What an immeasurable joy
Gazing into his trusting eyes
Simplicity and harmlessness;
Fierce tenderness cultivated.

World-owner is, inn-seeker was;
Rich master conceived, poor slave born;
Rich-fathered there, poor-fostered here;
Lover of all, despised by all.

All hands adjoined to all as one;
All faces beaming in one joy;
All hearts so love-filled with one peace;
Thus, we’ll live the best season best.
