Sigh!

I am known to most people but no one has
seen me or knows my name. I am known as
''the last victim who was saved.'' I got that
name from the media that used to repeat it
over and over again after I was saved from
the notorious serial killer Obi Lukas. The
media's focus was on him entirely, his life,
background and upbringing, which school he
attended, his work, people who knew him
and how did the killing all start with him.
Very little was mentioned about the victims
and their families, just their pictures and
names and their grieved families in the trials.
As the one who lived to tell what happened,
many newspapers and news agencies came to
me for interviews. My father stopped them
with an iron hand; they were just interested
in a good story, not me, as a human who
lived the most horrifying experience in his
life.

Only now, after two years of trauma and
therapy, I'm telling my story. Not to the
newspapers or news agencies, to you, maybe
you will learn something or at least know
how being a helpless victim feels like. Before
continuing to read what I have to say, I want
you to get away from every distraction and
read carefully.

My name is Akinbode, my friends and family call me Bode, I bet you guessed I'm from the western part of Nigeria. I am 22 years old. Well, there are more things you will know while reading.

My father is the owner of a reputable real estate agency. I used to work with him in Summer holidays. First I would go with the company's agents to see how they work and learn from them.

''Dad I'm sure I'm ready to do it on my own.'' I begged.

''I prefer keeping you here for office work a little while longer.'' He said while sipping his coffee.

''Daddy, look at me, I am 20 years old, I'm not a child anymore, or do you think I will ''ruin'' the family business.'' I said jokingly.

''Don't say that, one day you will take over the family business.'' He said.

''So, why don't you trust me?''

He turned to me and said seriously ''it is not the matter of trust my son, you are still young, you still need more experience in the field, and it’s not an easy job convincing a person to buy a house.''

I looked down to the floor disappointingly and said nothing.

''Now go, there are customers outside, give them the forms to fill.''

I shuffled to the door with heavy steps, he said while I was closing the door behind me ''and don't forget to photocopy their driving license.''

My father's over protectiveness has always
annoyed me. It hindered me from having my
own experiences and learning from them. He
was trying always to have everything perfect
for me. The perfect school, the perfect
upbringing and the perfect parenting. I
consider myself lucky but sometimes I would
come to the point where I feel that I really
want to try things on my own. I was really
angry when he refused to let me go with
customers to their properties and I couldn't
reason why he would do that. On that day I consulted Mr Peters, the executive manager
and my father's best friend.

''Sometimes parents don't realize that their
children have become adults until they prove
it.'' he said in his fatherly manner.

''What do you mean?''

''What about going to a customer's property
and sign a transaction and show him that you
are an adult, responsible and trustworthy.''
He muttered.

I leaned back and sank in the black leather
chair and thought about it. Sure he will get
angry when he knows, but when he calms
down he will know my real mettle. I'm tired
of hearing ''you're still young'' always.

''Why not? It is the time for me to be
independent.'' I said with enthusiasm.

''He will kill me if he knows that I allowed
that.'' He said irritably.

''He won't.'' I said holding his hand in
reassurance.

And that was it, I arranged with a customer
to meet him in his property at four the next
day. He was white, big, and tall with sharp
features. He wanted to offer his mansion for
sale. He was waiting for me in the garden, it
was a very beautiful garden with rare roses
beautifully arranged. It looked like Eden to
me.

''Beautiful garden'' I commented.

''I designed it myself.'' He said proudly.

He lead me inside, the house was no less
beautiful. I wondered how could anyone sell
this house, it was the epitome of luxury.

Then, everything happened suddenly, he was
standing behind me when I felt a needle
prick in my arm, I just remember saying
''ouch'' before everything blackens out.

I am chained to a bed.
I'm alone
I'm scared
I'm naked

This is what I realized when I opened up my
eyes. There was a dim light in the room, I
looked around me, it was an attic. It was an
attic full of rubbish and unwanted stuff.
There was strong smell of rusty iron mixed
with the smell of rotten meat that made me
want to throw up. In the dim light I noticed
something in the corner which made me
scream in horror...bones, human
bones...bloody human bones. What's going
on? Where am I? how did I get here? All the
unanswered questions buzzing in my head. I
tried in vain to free my self from the chains.
I wasn't sure if I scream that anyone would
help me. Why not give a try?

''HEEELP, PLEASE HEEEEELP, HELP MEEEEE,
HEEELP HEELP HEEELP'' no answer, no one
hears me.

''HEEEELP, HEEEEELP, ANYBODY OUT THERE
PLEASE HELP MEEE'' silence, death, no
answer. I kept screaming till my throat
became sore and I couldn't scream anymore.
I lied there waiting for the unknown. I
stopped when I realized that there is no one
out there hears me. I lied there shaking like a
leaf. Shaking from cold, shaking from fear. I
became alert when I heard steps coming
near. It was him! Obi Lukas, the client.

''It's you! Get me out of here!'' I shouted.

He looked at me and didn't reply.

''Why? why?'' I continued shouting.

Still, he didn't reply.

''Please, let me go..'' I said, almost crying.

His silence added to my horror, he sat on
the side of the bed and .......

Well, dear reader, Akinbode could not continue
this part because it brought him flashbacks
and actually he is suffering from post
traumatic stress.

So, I the writer, will continue from this point.....

Obi sat on the side of the bed staring at
the naked body lying in front of him. Skin so
soft, hair so blonde, eyes so blue, body so
lean, such a symmetrical beauty that would
arouse men and women alike. The boy was
lying there shaking like a leaf, it made him so
happy, so in control of him and his destiny.
It made him happy that he could implant
such a great fear in the young heart. He
passed his hand on his torso, the boy was
screaming and shouting. He touched the rosy
nipples, the soft skin, fingered the cute belly
button, everywhere his hands could reach.
He enjoyed the fact that he was conquering
him.

''Please, stop, let me go...oo'' Bode begged as
he knew what could be coming. but despite
the crying, screaming and begging, the man
didn't bat an eyelid. ''How could these stupid
boys think that he would ''let them go'' just
because they beg?'' he thought. All the noise
made him angry so he punched him to shut
him up. The screams turned to sobbing. He
got ready, he didn't use a lubricant, he
wanted it to be as painful as possible and so
was it.

''NO, NO...NO, NOOO'' was all Bode could
say. He was being raped and couldn't believe
it. How could this happen to me? It happens
only to others, I read about it, I see it in the
news, other people, NOT ME ..NOT ME. The
emotional and physical pain were unbearable
that he fell unconscious.

Bode woke up few hours later, he didn't know
how long he stayed unconscious. He was still
on the bed but unchained. He kept lying
there for a while trying to recollect himself.
after few moments, he stood up slowly and
threw back his blonde shoulder length hair
that was all over the place. The excruciating
pain in his rectum reminded him of what had
happened, he was hoping that it was just
dream but unfortunately, it was real. He
descended the attic ladder slowly, the house
was silent except for the ticking of a giant
clock hung on the wall. He crept downstairs
to the ground floor, he felt awkward moving
around naked. Windows had metal bars and
the living room door was locked. He felt that
his legs can't carry him so he sunk in the
nearest armchair. As he sat there feeling so
vulnerable and weak, he had an extraordinary
revelation. He could see his life flashing in
front of his eyes for the first time. He had
everything, how blessed he was. He never
complained but he used to take everything in
his life for granted. He buried his face in his
hands and cried bitterly. Suddenly he felt a
hand grabbing his arm and he was thrown on
the floor.

''Don't ever..sit on this chair!'' he shouted in
rage pointing his finger at Bode's face.

Bode's eyes widened in fear.

''Do you understand?''

''Y..y..yy''

''yy..yy..y…y…y.what? do…you…understand?''

''Yes''

He touched his face gently with the back of
his hand and said ''good boy''.

''You can move freely for now…don't try to
escape because there is NO WAY OUT..you
can go and take a shower'' he continued.

''I want to go out of here.'' Bode said.

The man looked at him indignantly so he
added in a begging tone ''Please.''

''SHUT UP!!!'' Obi shouted.

''ooo..ok.. I need some clothes to put on.''

''I SAID SHUT..UP!!!!''

Bode shuffled to the bathroom, there was no
window in the bathroom, there was no single
exit in this house. When he finally grew
desperate he took a shower. At this moment
he thought there is not enough amount of
water in this world to clean him. He doesn't
know what is going to happen, this state of
ignorance made him angry. He wrapped
himself in a towel and walked outside. So
what? He asked himself. What next? He can't
stay in that fear and agony for a long time.
