The check engine light is on, and some times blinks. Could is be the egr valve?

Get it repaired ASAP, blinking lights means it will die very soon if not serviced.
Did someone try fixing it before?
Get the codes and don't erase unril its fixed, don't let them just disconnect the battery or else your car will have to relearn settings.
V6 accords don't have problems, it people treating it like a 404 that makes things bad.

Does it mean it needs servicing ie change of oil and all dat?

Means if you keep on driving it like that, you might need a new engine soon.
That is why its jerking trying to die(misfire)
Could be as simple as a bad spark plug on atleat 2 cylinders.
