pls can any one let me in on what health care management is all about?? and of how relevant public health is in nigeria.thanks

Healthcare management is a rapidly evolving field of medicine. . . its basically about applying management principles to healthcare in various ways. This ca be in hospital administration, NGOs, Health Insurance etc. Its not really etablished in Nigeria but those who are practising some form of it are the HMOs.

Public Health is essential to Health in Nigeria. Its not just about prevention but its also about evolving new ways and establishing old ways of healthcare delivery in the nation. The in-thing now is public health and it is a very diverse field - it has branches such as epidemiology, health policy and management, global/international health, environmental health to name a few. if u can get a postgraduate degree in PH it will be quite useful. Some experience in the field too with NGOs, international organisations sch as WHO, UNICEF etc. will be hepful

thanks dear, im a graduate of microbiology,but i learnt medical doctors are at a greater edge wit an MPH is that true??. is it possible to start up something in health care management or even public health without owning a hospital?? i think ild like 2 start up something.r u a consultant?

Doctors dont necessarily have am advantage. With an MPH there is some sort of level ground.It then depends on what you are going to do with the degree.Of cus doctors might be better or more suited for clinical work related to the MPH but there is no reason why any other person can not excel in the field. Microbiology has a role to play
