Building collapse is so rampant in d country simply to due to professional standard compromise (short cut). Causes of building collapse include d following. 1. lack of detailed subsoil investigation/soil test(SPT, CPT, OR GEOPHYSICAL METHOD). 2. Types of building/geologic materials used e.g granite rich in biotite minerals easily weathered and weakens engineering structures. 3. inadequate knowledge of d geology of d area~presence of active fault(major and minor). 4. poor interpretation result/analysis of data. 5. quacks or professiomal shortcut/greediness on d part of contrator or engineer. these and manymore are d major causes of building collapse in d country. until professional standards and ethics are strickly followed, i'm afraid, this may continue for a longtime to come and this does not speak well of Nigeria prosionals(geologists and engineers). In other to avoid failure of engineering structures and subsequent confiscation of properties. A detailed subsoil investigation by expert in d field is recommended.
