Nairaland, Our e-home, our e-own, our e-fatherland From 2005 when Lord Osewa baked thee This year you clocked a dozen less three We prided ourselves loud, bold, strong and fun To query, cry or cheer we had no where to run Dearest Nairaland, darling Nairaland Who torched you with their wooden heart and leprous hand? Who displaced a million five from a hearty land? Who took our e-life, sneered and down the gorge? For a million grands, a zillion thanks or some nillion grudge? Who leveled a ridge, bombed a bridge and laid a siege? But this is not an epithet or some sonorous dirge! When the sun smiled a second time There were no lines or explicit rhyme Hours like the school bus we could not breathe thee We went Twitter, Facebook, all others and LIB And soon Dr Seun pronounced thee dead! Guaranteed resurrection fire-lethal Gen Osewa said Hanging by that tiny thread of hope and trust We waited, trusted and did nothing less Like in birth we saw our baby kick and thrust Nairaland is born again and yes! We mourned the e-wars, the e-loves, but absence sucks We lost data, alternate handles and darling 'likes' Like in war, we lost Property intellectual, friends great, foes dear and businesses dire. Like in war, we lost Like in love, we lost We'd rather not the first For in truth our land is rebuilt (Work in progress) 6 Likes |
