That is why Medicine should be studied for the love of it and not as a task.

Hmmm, OP, if the JOHESU e-rats catch you...
Re: NMA Strike: The Real Way To Be A Consultant by Nobody: 10:39pm On Jul 11, 2014
Mr Op, can you explain to us why we have the west african college of pharmacists (WAcP), West african College of Med.lab.Science(WAPCMLS), College of Physiotherapy and other postgraduate health colleges?

I guess the "moon only shines on your father's hut" and nowhere else.
Re: NMA Strike: The Real Way To Be A Consultant by Morotov1(m): 6:47am On Jul 12, 2014
Op, that is for consultants in medicine.....right.
Others have their own route which doesn't include all those semester quiz and term papers you listed.....stretching it that far makes it sympathetic to look at, but careful perusal looks like some of the things and pathway you will follow to get a PHD......which I am sure a good number of other health professionals have. So appointing them as a consultant with their West African college certificates in their various disciplines and professions isn't a big deal after all.
Even including interviews, update courses and aptitude test...hahahaha.Stretch it a mile afar with....let's say the hours you spend with the patients, sleepless nights of night duty etc

All we need is for yoiu to tell us the real way of becoming the proposed consultant lab scientist

There is no West african college of medical laboratory science. The MOU for the creation f that college was just signed in September 2013. It has not been created yet.

Stupid liar! Biochem, anatomy and physiology is done for 18 months not 3 years. Pathology and pharmacology is also for 18 months not 3 years.

Moreover, it takes about 6-8 years to finish from West African Postgraduate College of pharmacy depending on the discipline. I don't just know the breakdown, Goan sit down oga!

What qualifies u as a consultant pharmacist, go check who the consultant pharmacist is in the United States which your likes readily point at, they work no where near a teaching hospital or anything like a teaching hospital, they specifically work with geriatri patients giving advice on their drug management, u can fool a gullible audience with lies but certainly not us

Google is still your friend. Consultant pharmacists started are were exclusively in the nursing homes, goan read about the expanded roles of consultant pharmacists in California and other jurisdictions. That consultant don't work in hospitals where they are most useful? Pls spew that phlegm out!

And what would you say about consultant nurses? They don't work in hospitals? Use ur brain!
Re: NMA Strike: The Real Way To Be A Consultant by 1k001(m): 4:47am On Jul 13, 2014
''The title “CONSULTANT” in a hospital setting describes the relationship between the Specialist Medical Doctor and his patient. It will be a source of confusion if the title is applied to any other health worker who statutorily does not own patient. NMA, therefore, declares with unmitigated emphasis that if “non-doctor consultants” are appointed, it will lead to chaos and anarchy in the health sector. This should not happen.''

Above is the specific demand of the NMA. Methinks it is not an unreasonable assertion.

Yes 'consultant' is used in other sectors but as far as health is concerned it is used in a specific way and to change that use will likely be detrimental and cause confusion.

The buck needs to stop at someone who will own and shoulder responsibility for the patient. We have not unreasonably chosen this 'someone' to be a senior experienced doctor.

Other terminologies such as specialist nurse or nurse practitioners or advanced practitioner should be used. I know in the UK there are consultant nurses but we are far away from where they were when they introduced the concept.

the medical schools are still open for doctor wannabes, if u''ve got brains as u portend, u would realize u are adding no value to patient care with ur supposed consultant pharmacist, and by the way, have u a asked yourself howcomes this broohaha about consultants and CMDship are only being argued out in government owned hospitals, why don't u go run a private hospital with ur consultant pharmacy or nurse or lab scientist and see if u can sustain the hospital, this is just self serving and has nothingto do service delivery, what's not possible isn't possible, be contented with ur job because there's honour in it all, there's no shortcut to consultancy, and if u 've really got congent points, u wouldn't be so venomous throwinginsults around

Maybe doctors should relinquish the title consultant and since everyone is quoting America use the term Attending.
