Watford starlet Ogo Obi has joined Manchester United on trial, Goal can confirm.

The 16-year-old is rated as one of the best players for his age in the country, and Watford have been desperate for him to agree professional terms at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets rate Obi so highly they have offered him scholarship terms with a three-year deal attached.

Obi, though, is yet to decide where his long-term future lies and has readily accepted the chance to link up with United, after Watford agreed to let him train with the Red Devils.

The 15-year-old shot to prominence during the prestigious Milk Cup last week where he finished as the competition’s top-scorer with 10 goals in five games.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have also expressed an interest in Obi, but United are in pole position.

Under the Elite Player Performance Plan, Watford would be due compensation should the player opt to join United or any other club.

Man United should pls retain him. I'll like to see him develop in Manchester with the likes of Iheanacho and Nwakali. Our U-20 team is being formed gradually.

Why not our Super eagles team?
Must we wait for these players to clock 40 before we bring them into the senior team?
Go and check the ages of the star performers in the just concluded world cup.

If they make the super eagles team by then, no problem about it. But you should know that there will be U-20 championship and olympics before the next world cup. Appearance shouldn't be the main concern now but development and improvement. The young players that went for world cup did so because of their performance.
