Do Not Judge Me by AuthorBest(m): 4:17pm On Jul 16, 2014 |
The bulk of Nigerians who go for the “Do not judge me because you do not know my story or what I had to choose from” mantra aren’t really modest individuals. What these Nigerians actually mean is that “When you see I am leading a questionable life do not judge me because you do not know my story or what I had to choose from but when you see I have succeeded in life, or have done a praise-worthy act you should not fail to judge me in that instance since I would be seen as leading a life worth emulating” This is immaturity at the highest possible level. At first, when we see that it would not be favorable to us we say, “do not judge me” but when the judgments would seem to proclaim our profound integrity we do not say “do not judge me”. What does this say about us? If we truly want there to be no judgments then it has to be applied in both instances. We cannot help but judge ourselves; its called life. Can we even imagine how life would be without judgments? There would be no improvements because everyone would be perfect. Criticism would be a capital offense. So, when I see any of my family, friends, acquaintances or even a total stranger tending to the path I see as questionable I will speak out, I will criticize them because when I see any of my family, friends, acquaintances or even a total stranger tending to the path I see as commendable I will praise them. It is left for you to deal with the fact in whatever way you see fit. |
