Please house, I need advice on whether I can install linux os on a system that came with windows 8.1 preinstalled. Secondly, will it be wise? I need the linux to be able to run my unix-based programs. Thanks in advance for sparing your time. |

If you can? Yes you can! Simply go to the site for the flavor you want to install. Get the .iso file and create a Linux live stick. Boot from the stick then install. You can install along side your windows 8 it's absolutely safe. Good luck. |

Also, disable UEFI from the bios before attempting to install the Linux. |
