ccording to Smooth Production’s CEO, Ayo Animashaun, ‘There is no better way to reward these deserving artists where they are not only appreciated by their country, but also celebrated on a platform aligned with international brands. The honour of receiving this prestigious award in their country, that is recognized on an international level, is one of the many things Smooth Promotions aims to achieve with this years organization of The Headies.’

Last year, Olamide and Phyno both led the winnings as they took home multiple awards while Sean Tizzle won the ‘next rated’ award. Hosts for this year’s edition have not been announced yet.



The organizers have however announced that they have started accepting materials for nominations adding that only music released between July 2013 and June 2014 are eligible for entry. Submission of materials for nomination started on July 22 and will close on August 30. This year’s Headies marks the prestigious awards’ 9th year running, the awards held it’s first edition in 2006.
