40 Suicide Bombers Reportedly Sneakedinto Maiduguri by Swagavillage(m): 7:34am On Jul 31, 2014
Reports coming from Maiduguri, Borno State,
indicate that at least 40 Boko Haram suicide
bombers, including teenage girls, sneaked into
the city to launch attacks.
Days after the two bombs in Kano detonated
on Monday during the end of Ramadan
celebrations allegedly by teenage girls,
Leadership reports with reference to different
sources that scores of terrorists entered
Maiduguri.
A member of the Civilian-JTF who asked not
to reveal his name said a suspected sect
member arrested July 27 in the city made the
confession, adding that out of 40 who had
arrived in Maiduguri with the intention to bomb
the state capital, 2 were girls.

Civilian-JTF operative said they managed to
arrest 7, but were still in search for 33 others.
"When we interrogated them, they were able to
reveal that the girls, just like they did in Kano,
would be used to carry bombs tied to their
bodies and covered by their hijabs to crowded
places where they would be detonated by
some other persons holding the remote-
controlled detonator. We have tried to make
them reveal where others are being kept but
have not been successful."
The information was confirmed by a member of
the Nigeria vigilante Muhammed Gava who put
the number of terrorists at around 20:
"The bus had the paint of the Nigeria Air Force
and it carried plenty people, about 20 or so,
both men and girls, into Maiduguri. It came
from the direction of Damboa, and some
members of the Civilian-JTF tried to stop it
around Polo area but the driver did not stop.
And when they later tried to go after the bus,
they lost its track; but they are still searching
for the bus."

Borno police urged the state residents to
beware of ladies covered with hijab and
standing by the roadsides or asking about how
to reach a particular place, but they did not
provide any information whatsoever about
Sunday arrests.
SSS representative, who pleaded anonymity,
also commented on the matter:
"What we have was that a large number of
suspected Boko Haram gunmen had invaded
the town before and during the Eid celebration
with the intention of carrying out suicide
bombings using some of the girls they came in
with to actualise their evil plan. Some arrests
were made, and investigation is still on to fish
out others from their hideouts."
It would be recalled that two deadly attacks
were launched Monday in Kano. The first one,
which occurred at NNPC Mega Filling Station
at Hotoro Quarter along Maiduguri road, killed
4, including the suspected female suicide
bomber. Hours later another blast rocked Kano
shopping mall leaving a suicide bomber, also a
female, dead and 6 others injured .
Borno is among the states where the Nigerian
authorities have recently extended the
emergency rule for 6 more months. Critics of
the move say that despite the strong presence
of military in the northern region the states
have witnessed the direst attacks in their
history within this period.
