Despite interest from Wolfsburg, AS Monaco
and Atletico Madrid, Fernando Torres will stay
at Stamford Bridge in the latest Chelsea
transfer news.

German media have reported that "Chelsea
want to get rid of their £50 million record
transfer" Fernando Torres.
And, with a host of clubs interested in the
Spanish striker including Bundesliga side
Wolfsburg, Ligue 1 heavyweights AS Monaco
and La Liga champions Atletico Madrid, the
30-year-old has not been short of admirers.
Yet he remains at Stamford Bridge. Why?

Manager Jose Mourinho bemoaned the lack of
quality striking options at his disposal last
season. Over the course of the summer he has
remedied that in the transfer market having
offloaded Demba Ba (Besiktas), Romelu
Lukaku (Everton) and Samuel Eto'o (contract
expiry) in order to bring in Diego Costa
(Atletico) and Didier Drogba (free).

Torres, though, has been talked up by the
Special One as being a fundamental part of
the club's three man strike force: "Three
strikers is fundamental in the squad and we
have three - Nando, Didier and Diego," he
said, recently .
But Torres is not a typically 'Chelsea'-type
player.

The 30-year-old, a 2010 World Cup winner
with Spain, revels in systems that exhibit fast
football with intricate touches - like what he
was used to at Liverpool, or past Spanish
national football teams. In a functional
Chelsea where the unit are reliant on
physicality and power from a traditional
number nine up top, Torres struggles.
Regardless of Mourinho's sentiments in the
press, BILD claim that the player has indeed
been in contact with other clubs: "Atletico
Madrid and AS Monaco show interest but the
transfer fee and his wage demands are too
high."

ok, got you now. Don't mind chelsea they don't want to sell their record signing, that why they are asking too much. I believe they will let him go when his contract expires or cut down his wage demand for extention.
