Bless our clueless president!

He does whatever his American masters tell him to do he is being a good houseboy!

How many confirmed cases have we had in Nigeria ?

one or two confirmed cases (if it is even truely Ebola)

Never mind that this propaganda being propagated by USA will probably cost Nigerians the right to move freely around the world and further damage our economy and trade with other countries

Maybe Mr Jonathan thought before that Ebola was a scam by APC to dent his government as normally echoed by his fat pig (asari demented) in the creek region.

My concern here is that, they are shouting out to America for aid despite the lump sum of money being forked out because of this pestilence, which I believe is just the beginning. I just hope Ebola, aside its deadliness, will not also become another drain pipe for these wolves to loot the treasury dry as Boko Haram has turned out to be

nnamdibig: President Goodluck Jonathan Friday in Abuja declared the control and containment of the Ebola virus in Nigeria, a National Emergency.
The Federal Ministry of Health has therefore been directed to work in collaboration with the State Ministries of Health, the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other relevant agencies to ensure that all possible steps are taken to effectively contain the threat of the Ebola virus in line with international protocols and best practices.
According to a statement by presidential spokesman, Dr Reuben Abati, President Jonathan also approved a Special Intervention Plan and the immediate release of N1. 9 billion for its implementation, to further strengthen on-going steps to contain the virus such as the establishment of additional isolation centres, case management, contact tracing, deployment of additional personnel, screening at borders, and the procurement of required items and facilities.

The President commended the vigilance of aviation and health authorities in Lagos who identified and isolated the index case in Nigeria, the late Patrick Sawyer, an American-Liberian who flew into the country.
He also applauded the good work of health authorities at both State and Federal levels who have traced persons who had contact with him, isolated other identified cases and embarked on massive public enlightenment.
President Jonathan called for even greater vigilance and co-operation at all levels to stop the Ebola virus from spreading further.

The statement reads:

“President Jonathan calls for even greater vigilance and co-operation at all levels to stop the Ebola virus from spreading further.

“As the effective implementation of the Federal Government’s Special Intervention Plan will require other stakeholders to take certain precautionary steps that are supportive of the government’s initiative, the President calls on members of the public to follow all directives by health authorities and report any suspected Ebola case to the nearest health facility for immediate medical attention.

“He also enjoins the public to desist from spreading false information about Ebola which can lead to mass hysteria, panic and misdirection, including unverified suggestions about the prevention, treatment, cure and spread of the virus.

“President Jonathan urges that the movement of corpses from one community to the other, and from overseas into the country should be stopped forthwith. Every death should be reported to the relevant authorities, and special precautions should be taken in handling corpses.

“Religious and political groups, spiritual healing centres, families, associations and other bodies should, in the meantime, discourage gatherings and activities that may unwittingly promote close contact with infected persons or place others at risk.

“Public enlightenment agencies, including privately-owned media organs should support government’s efforts and disseminate correct information in all Nigerian languages, about preventive personal hygiene measures, the nature of the Ebola virus, modes of transmission and consequential steps to be taken in the event of infection.

“President Jonathan appeals to State governments and private day care, nursery, primary and secondary schools owners to consider the option of extending the current school holiday until such a time when a national reassessment of the level of the Ebola threat is conducted.

“The President further directs the National Emergency Management Agency and similar agencies at the state level to strengthen their public enlightenment campaigns and to use their networks to distribute hand sanitisers and other protective items nationwide. He has also directed the aviation and health authorities to embark on immediate intensification of the screening of travelers at all the nation’s borders.

“President Jonathan reassures everyone that the Government of Nigeria will continue to take every step, deploy all resources, and mobilize every support and assistance to check the spread of Ebola in the country
“Medical workers and other health professionals are expected to regard this declaration of a National Emergency as a patriotic call to duty and service”.

EBOLA: Open Letter To President Goodluck Jonathan

So I plead we channel some Money into helping the Canadian company Tekmira which have their own experimental drug (TKM-Ebola) to get it in the country as quick as possible. They are ready to test. We should give them the necessary assistance (Including Financial) to help us win this race against time.

But there are fears about how feasible it would be to identify all secondary contacts. For instance, the driver who conveyed Sawyer from the airport to First Consultant Hospital was said to have ran to his village before he was later found and quarantined for further observation.
Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, noted this while confirming that relvant authorities know the whereabouts of all primary contacts, but "secondary contacts are much more in number and knowing about them depends on information given by the primary contact.”

There are also worries about the dearth of care-givers at the quarantine center. It was gathered that only one caregiver, who is a WHO official, is attending to the seven confirmed carriers of the virus at the center, all of whom are said to be in a hall – a development that showed that Nigeria was really not prepared for this kind of an infectious disease outbreak.

Already President Goodluck Jonathan has declared a national emergency and approved N1.9 billion special fund to combat the disease, while the minister of health has announced government’s intention to provide insurance cover for those willing to be caregivers.

my advice to you as a young star, is to come close to God, only God can intervene to Our country matter. Remember when the people of Israel turn against God, God angrily destroyed the country but when they Repent, He forgive them. Our God is merciful, with God I believe all things are possible..

Re: Jonathan Declares National Emergency On Ebola by lmureli: 1:39am On Aug 11, 2014
I dont want to engauge in politics but we have a crisis at our hands and honestly i think our goverment is not doin enough..our emergency response is slow and poor.
we r all reaponsible here, not just jonathan
for instance the doctor who attended to sawyer could have contained the situation when she discorvered that sawyer was frm liberia....she wld av carried out the test and notified d nessesary authurities first..just like when a person goes to the bank wit a fake chk...they ask u to wait while they call the police witout nessesarily alerting you.
well it got out of control frm there, and its now in the goverments hands to contain it...they need to be on top of the matter a 100 percent..
real work needs to be done!!!
i have a few recommendations

1)i suggest that sawyers picture be broadcasted, it shld be adequately publicised in all national dalies
that anyone who has come in contact wit the man needs to come out for quarantine, because of their loved ones, ofcourse the message has to be properly framed!

2) it shld be enforced that all personnel of business serving the general shld wear protective clothing.

3) all hospitals and clinics shld test all patients that come into their clinics. this does not prevent them frm attendind to them and test results shld be forwarded to a central point for processing..because if more case are goin to be discorved, it will be at these places..so we stand a better chance if control is initiates at these points.

4) from pt 3 above its imperative govt needs to provide adequate testing kits.

5) there shld be a public service annocement frm time to time senticing people on everything they need to know abt the virus.
all media has to be used to spread d msg...including social media.

6) well i will stop here for now but just b4 i go...our govt shld engauge in more talks wit the western world abt its cure and vacine
if u follow obamas reason for not sendind the drugs, u will see that its debatable.
so we need our intelectuals to get out there and plead our case. i can lend a hand wit that!

Medicine after death! This is lesson for all of us, when your neighbor's house is on fire, you do not sit and watch. When this Ebola thing started in Guinea, what did African leaders do, what is ECOWAS for? They all thought it wasn't their problem. Guinea is a small country without much disposable income and needed all the help to stamp that menace out. People from the west, US, China were sending help but Africans did nothing, Just like boko haram in Nigeria when some Countries thought it was only a Nigeria's problem not until they started exporting their Trade to Neighboring countries. Few days back, I heard a leader from Ghana saying "Ghanaians will only hear of Ebola but will not see it" Typical African mentality! If Nigeria had given 100Million Naira to Guinea to help them fight the Virus while tightening our borders, we wouldn't have been where we are today and no body would be talking of 1.8 Billion Naira today which will officially end up in one's pocket anyway. African leaders should wake up, you guys have slept and snored for a long time, no wonder one Obama of a guy will gather 50 of you in one room like school boys to advise you on how to lead your people.
