kayphyzee: Hello poster, I was in your shoes few weeks back but I've managed to arrive at a decision. Here is my advice, to make the decision easier for you. Why do you want to buy a car now (to show off or for convenience). As your first car, you do not want a car that will be expensive to maintain or that will be taking you to the mechanics every now and then (if you are able to buy a cheap Nigerian used). I'd suggest you go for tokunbo of either Toyota corolla(1999-2000) model or a Honda civic(1999-2001) model(you can research the two cars or other cars).
I did extensive reviews on these two cars and find out they are both okay to maintain although folks told me to be weary of the Honda (steering issue).

Forget about buying a Nigerian used. Except you are buying from a known associate or relative. If you buy from a stranger, even if then person had changed the engine or gear box etc they will not tell you.

Give yourself peace of mind and buy a decent tokunbo.

Thanks for the advice

So which car did you end up buying.

I am getting a car for many reasons, some personal reasonable reasons.

Plus comfort and continence

I get home late from work,
Traffic and rain
Clothes get dirty before I get to work cuz of my areas bad road when it rains mud and all

I may inter state sometimes.

You mentioned honda civic. Made up my mind but even the 2001 is way above my planned budget.

My brother thank you.is this true cuz I asked around and 2001 cost 800k. This car matter don tire me,2001 car still costing almost a million.

I did a small search and yes this car still goes for between 800-1M you might have to add a little more.

Honda products r gud bt leg wahala I.e shaft, bushing, kitting, upper arm, lower arm etc.
Toyota r way too expensive 4 ur budget!
Peugeot 206 most preferably 2 me cos it has fuel economy more than Honda civic n has second hand value.
Benz 230c gud n has fuel economy bt spare parts r expensive.
Golf 3 is also nice bt leg wahala, electrical pblm!

i am not surprise that many are recommending d toyota for u. Nigeria is a toyota nation even if other brands serve them beta. Its psychological.. Stick with ur HONDA. U will enjoy it. D only challenge with HONDA is d shaft pulling out unannounced. Relatively, its a beta bargain if u have maintenance culture.

Your budget is too low. Buy yourself this car and thank me later. Is just 3months use. You can convert it to uber . Is 2004 model . The price is 1.350million. I am the owner of the 50k ontop of it.

My brother because you couldn’t buy something at a price doesn’t mean you put down others. Anyway I bought Honda Accord 2014 used it, no regrets although I bought it from the abroad and had it shipped down. Just changed my car to a super machine and loving it, still in the Honda Family.
