Osoba’s Residence Defaced By Unknown Group by yarnings: 11:09pm On Aug 12, 2014
The crisis rocking the Ogun State chapter of the All
Progressives Congress (APC) took another dimension
yesterday as an unknown group in the capital city
defaced the walls of the GRA residence of the former
Governor of the state, Chief Segun Osoba, in
Abeokuta with graffiti.
The graffiti was in Yoruba and the inscriptions were
derogatory to the person of the former governor.
Some of the inscriptions read: ‘Osoba gba fun oga e’,
‘Osoba o ni wo tan’, ‘Osoba, gba fun SIA, SIA lamo’,
‘Osoba gba fun oga e.’
When translated in English, the graffiti means:
‘Osoba, give kudos to your superior’; ‘Osoba won’t
see the end of the game’; ‘Osoba, be loyal to SIA’;
‘Osoba give to your superior.’
However, the security guard, Mr. Tunde Fasasi, said
the person(s) that committed the act must have
come in around 4a.m. as he was still parading the
premises around 3a.m.
But, the former governor said he was not bothered by
any attack on him or his political career, saying the
reputation he had built over a long period of time
cannot be undone by smear campaign by his
detractors.
He prayed that God would forgive the perpetrators of
the graffiti, stating that “I am used to being insulted
even when I was governor in 2002. I am not
disappointed, that is exactly what happened 11 years
ago. For me, I have developed a thick skin.
“Anything anybody says about me at the age of 75, it
too late to malign my name or to destroy my
reputation as an elder. All I can say is that may God
continue to forgive them. We should pray for them,
may God forgive them.”
In reaction to the graffiti, the Special Assistant to the
governor on Media, Sola Balogun, distanced the state
governor from the act.
He dismissed the action as a deliberate attempt by
enemies of the state to destroy the governor’s name.
“Senator Ibikunle Amosun cannot and did not send
anybody to deface Osoba’s house. This is a tolerant
governor,” Balogun said. www.thisdaylive.com/articles/osoba-s-residence-defaced-by-unknown-group/186084/
