With the increasing cases of people contacting Ebola Virus in Nigeria, the First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan and Governors have adopted a new method of greeting, in order to avoid becoming victims.

First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan was pictured greeting officials of the Nigerian Embassy in Poland as she arrived the Gdansk Walesa International Airport in Sopoto, Northern Poland to commission a training ship built for the Nigerian Oceanographic Institute for Marine and Research purposes.

Patience jonathan adopts new greeting method over Ebola scare

The fear of the Ebola Virus have made some Nigerian Governors avoid the traditional handshake greeting.

During a crucial meeting, yesterday, August 13 with President Jonathan on Ebola Virus to resolve the Ebola Virus Disease in the country within at the Villa.
Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state, Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom and Theodore Orji of Abia were photographed greeting each other but they avoided hand shakes.

Instead they went for the ‘chop knuckle’ kind of greeting.
The meeting had in attendance, Vice President, Sambo, several state governors, Ministers of Health, Information & FCT, WHO Representative, Dr. Rui Voiz and the Director of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Abdusalam Nasidi.

Meanwhile Lagos State Governor Babtunde Fashola during the special meeting advocated that the traditional hand shaking as a way of greeting should be stopped in a bid to stop the spread of Ebola Virus.

It would be recalled that the first case of Ebolain Nigeria was an American-Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, who shunned medical advice and travelled in Nigeria.

He, however died on July 25 in an Obalende, Lagos hospital five days after he arrived in the country.

Sadly, few people who came in contact with the late sawyer, like the matron of the hospital who treated him died last week while an Economic Commission of WestAfrican States Protocol Officer, Jatto Abdulqudir, who picked up Sawyer from the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos passed on Tuesday.
