It is saddening to know that the heroic doctor who made necessary efforts to contain the spread of the world’s deadliest disease in Nigeria passed away Monday night.

Dr Stella Adedavoh must be commended even after death for her bravery; it must be remembered that she made necessary steps to alerting the necessary agency in Lagos after suspecting the Liberian, Patrick Sawyer was an Ebola patient.

Dr Adedavoh had been in coma for nearly a week as a result of the virus. Dr Adedavoh is a medical doctor at FirstConsultant Hospital, Lagos.

Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, confirmed the death of the brave doctor, Dr Adedavoh to newsmen last night.

How this news would affect the morale of other doctors and medical team combating would be crucial, as it is important that the government makes necessary steps in motivating these medical personnel.

Some Nigerians have requested that the Federal Government should give the late Dr Adedavoh some necessary accolades, so as to inspire other doctors and young Nigerians in placing their country ahead of every other thing.

Though, the Lagos State Government must be commended for placing measures in educating the populace on the virus, and containing the spread of the virus so far.

The present global death toll from Ebola stands at 1,229, with the bulk of cases in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

So far, all of the confirmed cases have been in Lagos, which is sub-Saharan Africa’s biggest city with more than 20 million people.

Heroic Doctor; Dr Adedavoh lost the battle to EbolaThe World Health Organization said on Tuesday that there were 15 cases of the virus in Nigeria.

The four other deaths included two medical workers, a doctor and a nurse, who had treated the Liberian finance ministry consultant and an official from the West African regional bloc, ECOWAS, who picked him up from the airport.
