Alawiye shaaaa. Brings back sweet memories.
I never could recite "ise ni oogun ise" to the end.
But I can never forget
"Obe baba bo
O ba obo oba
A o ba baba be oba
A o ba bee"

I too like that tounge twister.

I can still remember the "omo to mo iya re loju oo,osi yo to mo na pa" picture, how the guy's friend all prostrated for the guy's mother.
Who remembered the passage where some boys came to play together, they each brought something to play with, one brought a drum and one brought a toy gun.
Damn...
Nostalgic feelings

Even though i schooled a lil in the 80s and more in the 90s down through, i really appreciate the quality of education we had back den esp people that schooled the 80s through. Yoruba is a very rich language i must say and tas even evolved and changed with time still retainin its 'classicness'..
I envy those of you that can read it fluently. I am just a little less than average in readin it.
God bless you Yorubas, God bless Nigeria..

dont8: This is a sequel to the thread created by Datguru https://www.nairaland.com/1866865/remember-pic

Now, I rephrase Datguru's words- If after looking at this picture for about 5 minutes and it doesn't come to your memory what it's all about, know that you were born in the indomie generation.

But you're not just born in Indomie generation but of computer game era wink

Awa omo Yoruba, ejeka gbe asa wa laruge lekan si.

I knew it was goin to be Alawiye before opening the thread. I can still recollect as far back as apa kini-obe baba, obo oba days grin

Here goes
Obe baba bo, o ba obo oba.
A o ba baba be oba, ao baa beeee

One one of my all Time faves which I still sticl to as an adult. it's titler omo atata (I think). If the average Nigerian had kept words like these close to heart, we wouldn't have been so darn overpopulated.

Kaka ki n bi egba obun
Maa kuku bi okan soso oga
Maa fi yan araye loju
Maa rohun gberaga
Se okan soso araba
Ki n se egbe egba osusun
Omo to jafafa kan soso
O san ju igba irunbi omo
Akukuubi sanse radarada
kakuku l'omode to yeni
O san ju ka gagba atoroje lo

Funny thing is I did not even understand what the poem was all about back then. I only crammed it cos my teacher was going to punish us if we didn't recite it. It waa when I grew older that I reflected on the words. Its better to have one child n train to ur satisfaction than have heaps of children who may end up becoming nuisances in future.

Unfortunately yoruba is no longer taught in our primary school, it's scarce in bookshops. You should be able to get it at Yaba before Tejuosho market though.
