Difference between factory unlocked iPhone and chip unlocked iPhones A locked iphone is unlocked using a chip called RSIM, gevey,tpsim depending on d maker of d chip. All u need to do is just to place your sim on d chip and both together goes into d fone and u av your network. Dat will make it function like a factory unlocked iphone as long as your sim is on d rsim. The limitation of d chip are: 1. U need to save your nos with +234 or their country codes when using d chip if not, ur saved nos will not show d names wen they call. 2. When a new major ios is released ( major ios release is usually done once in a year), u av to wait till u av confirmed dat d chip still works on d new ios before u upgrade in order not to lock back d device( in most Cases, even if u upgrade, a new chip will b available to use with d new ios,except iphone4) 3. Now on ios7. U wont b able to use ussd codes again like *123# to check balance when using chip. Instead u go thru sim application or call cc Once u are comfortable with these , u av no issues with a chip iphone cos everyother feature that works on a factory unlocked iphone will also work on d chip unlock iphone. The advantage of d chip is obviously d price.

as at today, chip works on 802 on 4s and 5. u can check balance normally on 4s with my chip. 5s and 5c is not stable. works today might not work for days again.no chip again for i4
