It also makes the pain go away. You should ice your back for about 20 minutes, and then leave the pack off for 40 minutes. You can do this three times in a row, two to three times per day. 4 :- Heat your injured spot If ice works so well, then why would you want to apply heat? Ice works great in the acute, or early, phases of a back injury. That is the time when the blood is rushing to the site to heal the problem. After a few days, the muscles become tight and stiff. Ice does not help for tight muscles, but heat is perfect for it. When you have an injury, you will likely not exercise or move your back as much. This will cause it to lock up, and it can cause even more pain. Get a heating pad or heat producing patches, and you can put them directly over the problem. With the patches, follow the instructions on the box, but with a heating pad, try not to keep the pad on for more than 20 minutes at a time. The intense heat from the pad can burn the skin. 5 :- Pain Medications to relieve back pain The last helpful home remedy for back pain is over the counter medications.
