Launched in 1964 by the African-Carribean community, the Notting Hill carnival has become Europe’s biggest street festival. Over the bank holiday weekend, the streets of London come alive with steel bands, colourful floats and costumed performers as members of the public flood in to the area to join in the celebrations.
