Etiquette is a code of behaviour that delineates expectations for social behaviour according to contemporary conventional norms within a society, social class, or group. As a lady you must always be elegant, courteous and respectful. If you practice proper etiquette, you are less likely to offend or annoy people and you may even charm them. Below are a few of the standard and simple public etiquettes every lady should know and practice. -Be respectful; Say please and thank you. Forgetting to say these words would not go unnoticed and might come across as rude Don’t interrupt others when they are talking Offer your help to those in need When talking to a person be polite and give him your undivided attention. When visiting someone’s house let them tell you where to sit, leave your bag and whether or not to take off your shoes Hold the door open for others, it doesn’t matter whether you’re a man or woman -Know when to say no; being polite doesn’t mean others should take advantage of you; if somebody offers you something you don’t want say “no”. -Don’t use profane words, overeat or drink excessively; being a lady means having self-control and each of these activities is an example of overindulgence and not the proper etiquette for a lady. You shouldn’t get drunk or use words such as f**k and other forms of profanity. -Stay calm at all times; avoid lashing out at others. If you’re angry just try to remain poised and handle every situation rationally this would prevent you from doing things you’ll regret later. Never be lousy or noisy as a lady, it doesn’t speak well of you -Maintain your personal hygiene; make sure you smell and look good at all times, having a body or mouth odour is not proper etiquette. Shower and brush your teeth daily Wear deodorant Get rid of body hair especially on your hands, legs and private parts, it leaves your skin smooth. -Dress elegantly; you should dress appropriately for every occasion don’t try to squeeze into clothes that don’t fit don’t wear torn, worn out or faded clothes keep your clothes clean and well ironed at all times -Don’t wear excessive make up or revealing clothing; elegance requires minimalism but when you start revealing too much it isn’t elegant instead you seem like you’re trying desperately to get attention. Wear makeup that suits you and accentuates your killer features, if you’re not good at doing your make-up take makeup classes and always ask someone about your makeup to ensure its good.
