Normally, the Lithium-ion batteries that powers your phones and laptops is an electro-chemical cell that works by converting chemical energy into electricity through some series of redox reactions that it undergoes on the process.

But unknowingly to many that similar form of chemical reactions can be obtained from sugar and that is even capable of producing far more energy than that produced with lithium-ion batteries.

A latest breakthrough technology was made, when scientist just recently discovered that batteries can be made from converting the chemical substrate in sugar into electrical energy, and that for the sugar made bio-batteries, the energy storage density is about 10 times more than the energy storage density obtainable in lithium batteries.

What that means is that the batteries that will be developed through sugar will last about 10 times more than that of the normal lithium-ion batteries.

And with that, if they finally develop the sugar bio-batteries into commercial quantities, you might likely to have your phones and laptops run for complete straight week before charging.
