The leader of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) visitation team to Ibadan City Polytechnic, Mr Austin Ifejika, has rated the institution as the best private polytechnic in Nigeria.

Mr Ifejika made this declaration at the end of a week-long visit to the institution.

“Only a blind man would come here and say this is not good. I used to think a particular private polytechnic is the best, but having come here, I want to say this is the best private polytechnic in Nigeria,” he said.

The purpose of the NBTE’s visit was to inspect the facilities, infrastructure and the personnel of the institution.

Other members of the team were also full of praises for the proprietor and management of the institution.

Dr O.O. Ayannuga of the Yaba College of Technology and Engr G.I Efenedo of the Delta State Polytechnic, also commended the proprietor for the well equipped laboratories in all the sciences and technology based departments visited.

Also, the Acting Rector of the Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa, Mr Iyiola Eyitayo and Mr Adefela Odueyungbo of Ronik Polytechnic, commended the proprietor for making the institution’s environment beautiful, neat and conducive for learning.

In this same vein, Engineer O.P. Ayelabowo of Federal Polytechnic lIaro, who is also the team leader of the Electrical/Electronics Engineering Department, appreciated the proprietor for not minding the huge amount of money involved in adequately equipping the laboratories in the department.

Similarly, the Chief Librarian of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Mr Hammed Bakare, lauded the efforts made in ensuring that the institution’s library has modern and relevant textbooks, as well as the e-library facilities provided.

Also present at the occasion was the House Committee Chairman on Education in Oyo State, Honorable Olusegun Ajanaku

Ajanaku lauded the efforts of the management of the Polytechnic for complementing the efforts of the government in providing qualitative education.

He assured the institution of the support of the Oyo State Government and pledged that the road leading to the Campus II of the Polytechnic will be repaired.

The NBTE has after the inspection, granted the approval for the Ibadan City Polytechnic to operate as a full fledged private polytechnic in Nigeria.
