Well from mine experience,their birth is closely related.@OP have you tried to research on how they meet themselves?The African pidgin lays 2 eggs,both parents work hand in hand in building the nest and watching over the eggs till the hatching of the eggs.the eggs are always 2. I.e male and female,they both grow and stay together till death do them apart,just like their parents were done to.same applies to the african dove,these are the familiar birds around us everyday so I believe several other birds too have the same devotion.
Once when I was a kid,a particular dove layed eggs on a coconut three in front of my house,I watched theses eggs daily till dey are hatched,I waited the the little birds attempted to fly as their parents are teaching them and caught the littles birds in a cage,I placed the cage in D room near the tree and when the parents came they found they were not in their nest & traced them to the cage,the mother went inside and stood on D cage,I went slowly and closed the window I left open for her and caught her and put her in the cage,the father too came and I did same.So pathetic can u believe the father never ate anytin no matter what I put in the cage and he was so sorrowfull until he died in the cage.meanwhile @ D time of his death the mother too has lost appetite and would not eat anymore,I couldn't take it & set them free.till date guiltiness rest on my conscience to ave put that family through such.
That day I realised like humans animals too have emotions,especially being that it was the male that got the effects most.and felt helpless too see his partner and kids in such state
