Transport Operations Manager

WeTrans Limited is a newly formed logistics and transportation company set up to provide bespoke transport services for its clients. At WeTrans, we work with public and private institutions to conceptualise and implement innovative strategies for overcoming transportation challenges.
WeTrans has recently entered into a concession agreement with a public institution in Kwara State for the provision of mass transit services for its visitors and staff.
To this end, we seek to engage the services of suitably qualified individual for the position of Transport Operations Manager.

Responsibilities:
• Making sure transport operations meet set performance and safety targets, monitoring and reporting it to senior management;
• Writing clear reports and presenting options and recommendations to service providers and senior management;
• Advising on policy and strategic developments and examining business decisions (pricing policy, level of service provision, timetable changes) to assess their impact on passengers;
• Ensuring that all operations are carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, particularly relating to health and safety;
• Managing and supervising staff, organising work shift rotas and coordinating staff training;
• Negotiating and managing contracts and developing new business opportunities whenever possible;
• Minimising disruption and resolving any unscheduled delays, having to make decisions in difficult situations;
• Meeting passengers and customers to deal with complaints and areas of concern;
• Analysing results of surveys on passenger/customer satisfaction and starting new projects to improve performance;
• Making sure that transport services are available to all through social inclusion initiatives;
• Marketing passenger services to encourage greater passenger use of particular routes and methods of transport;
• Liaising and negotiating with different stakeholders including planning and highway authorities, passengers, transport unions and regulatory authorities;
• Identifying existing and possible future transport problems and proffer solutions;
• Liaising with passenger watchdogs and other professional bodies;
• Analyzing expenditures and other financial information in order to develop plans, policies, and budgets for increasing profits and improving services

Qualifications and Requirements:
• Minimum of a second class degree in any field. Graduates of courses relating to the position will have an added advantage;
• Maximum age of 35 years;
• Professional qualifications in transport planning and management will be an added advantage;
• Ability to plan in detail;
• Effective communication skills;
• Effective report writing skills;
• Ability to organize, lead, motivate, and care for all personnel involved in material operations
• Ability to thrive in a constantly changing chaotic environment and consistently meet tight timelines
