IKEDC Staff Now Blackmail Lagos Residents Into Donating Money For Fake Faults. by Aksonman: 1:36am On Sep 14, 2014
Dear Nairalanders,

A cross-section of electricity consumers in Lagos under the jurisdiction of Ikeja Distribution Company (IKEDC) are currently being blackmailed and held hostage by some auxilary staff of IKEDC.
These staff consisting mainly of unskilled technicians now go about vandalizing PHCN poles and carting away major cables connecting streets. After days of darkness, they aggressively persuade resident associations of affected streets to impose a levy on every compound on that street in order to raise money to fix a ficticious major fault.

This trend is nothing new as it existed during the era of government owned NEPA and PHCN, however with the privatization of these entities, such an illegal trend must now be considered an aberration.

Areas affected by the dubious IKEDC staff include parts of Ikeja,Egbeda,Idimu and Isheri areas.

We are calling on the new owners of IKEDC to take note and act swiftly.

Boyz (and girlz) are no longer smiling.

Send your complaints to customercare@ikedc.com and it will be looked into.

Don't also forget that a lot of these estate associations are used to this as their only source of income and could make you believe that IKEDC technicians sent them while they are out to make money for themselves. Insist on not paying any money and let's see what will happen.
