Former Nigerian goalkeeper Segun Oguns has said that Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi's second coming to the side will be a huge failure unless the former Togo coach drops his ego.

Keshi was temporarily re-engaged by the sports minister, Tammy Danagogo, to oversee Nigeria's double Afcon header against Congo and South Africa while discussion on a permanent renewal of his contract continues with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The Eagles have just a point to show in the two Afcon matches against less fancied group opponents, Congo and South Africa.

Oguns stated that the former Nigerian captain and defender is still regrettably carrying on with his coaching assignment in the same manner that was characteristic of his playing days.

"Keshi still treats his Super Eagles' job, assistants, players and employer, the NFF, the same manner he treated his colleagues in his playing days. He is arrogant, domineering and overbearing.

"No coach in the modern world succeeds with any of such outdated and slavish characteristics.

"Keshi must come down from his ego to play the role of a father to the assistants and players, he must listen to all and see them as partners not as mere tools that could be used and discarded at will.

"Unless he changes his attitude he'll be a huge failure if he is eventually re-engaged by the NFF.

"The sign of the failure to come is already there for everyone to see or how do you explain the difficult position we have found ourselves on the Afcon group table where we are placed third on one point behind Congo and South Africa on six and four points respectively after two rounds of matches," said the former Sunshine Stars goalkeeper coach to supersport.com.

Though the former Nigerian shot-stopper is hopeful that the Eagles may qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, he insisted that the dream will only be possible if Keshi decides to use the best legs at all times for the remaining qualifying matches.

"We're in a difficult position qualifying for the Nations Cup in Morocco but it's not a hopeless situation.

"It depends on our attitude to games as well as whether Keshi has learnt to prosecute future matches with the best legs irrespective of the fact that the faces are likeable or not.

"The truth is that Keshi has not used the best players in the past and that partly explains the position we have found ourselves in at the moment," said Oguns.

Nigeria's next Afcon double header will be against Sudan in October while the last matches against South Africa and Congo Brazzaville will be held in November.
