Will Large Firms/organisations Consider Proposals From Business Name Companies? by chux76(m): 12:57pm On Sep 17, 2014
Hello,
I need urgent business advice for a friend. His company is duly registered as a Business name since 2010 but he has not carried out any major transaction with the business since its registration but he has an idea that he believes would benefit some large organizations, not government establishments though.

His worries;

Would they honour a proposal from a business entity that is a sole proprietorship/Business name?

What are his chances of getting considered given his company is a business name and not an LLC?

How does he protect his ideas from being stolen and used by these organizations he wishes to send proposals to?

Is there a way he can package himself to enhance his chances of being considered?

Is there anybody in the house who has successfully executed projects or had successful proposals with large firms using just a business name as tender? Please share your experience

Please lets help out a young entrepreneur.

@OP... It is possible but if it involves business over certain amount, there might be red flags. But you can always do full registration when you are ready to start up with the propositions.

Hello.

Its important to always have the main trade secrets withheld from who ever your audience is and just give a peripheral idea of what the proposal is about, until potential investor show much seriousness and you sense integrity. You may never know, that secret will be the unique selling value to differentiate you and propel you to greatness.

Most ideas are not really entirely new, but a tweak of already existing businesses.

Your friend should find a professional Corporate Lawyer within his environ that he can afford, discuss with him, consult him for his advice and ensure he takes him along for one of those meetings with the Organisations. He can offer him some commission (10-20%) from deals he gets, the lawyer may be more willing to charge less and observe work ethics.

Cheers.
