Arsenal Player Rating:
It was one of those pleasant afternoons when Arsenal sealed the victory within the first half and only thing that you regret is that they took their foot off the gas instead of scoring as many goals as possible. Then you realize it was a really great game when that’s the only thing you have to moan about. Three goals in three minutes don’t happen every weekend. Here are the ratings from today’s impressive victory at Villa Park.

Wojciech Szczesny | 7.75:
Made a crucial save at 0:0 when Clark could have added more salt to our set-piece-caused wounds. His poor kicking allowed one dangerous attack to Villa but our Pole made a good save to make up for his mistake. It was the first league clean sheet for him this term, and hopefully the first of many to come.

Calum Chambers | 7.0:
Not a bad game for Chambers. It’s not going to be an easy season for him – he was supposed to do his internship by deputizing for Mathieu Debuchy or one of our central defenders but given that Debuchy will be out for a while he has had to take over the whole burden. Was lucky not to get his second yellow card in the 61st minute for a second bookable offense.

Per Mertesacker | 7.25:
Solid performancefrom the German.

Laurent Koscielny | 7.75:
Was our best defender again.

Kieran Gibbs| 7.5:
Was marauding down the left flank all day long giving our attack more width and creating more pockets of space for the attackers. His cross-cum-shot was deflected into the net by Cissokho for our third goal.

Mikel Arteta | 7.0:
After a shocker at Signal Iduna Park, our captain did much better today.

Aaron Ramsey |6.0:
His passing was sloppy and he picked up a booking. He had two good attempts in the first half and failed to react properly to Özil’s pass – he opted for a first-touch-pass to Welbeck which was the worst option available. Still, he was involved in our attacking play before the second goal. Perhaps he needs a rest but our next two matches are too big to play without Aaron

Mesut Özil| 8.5: MOTM.
When you have the best No. 10 in the world, you play him as No. 10. It’s that simple. The German scored the opener with a composed finish just 79 seconds before he found Welbeck with a pin-point pass from the wing for our second. He had an excellent afternoon.

Santi Cazorla | 6.5:
Most of our players enjoy playing down the middle. Santi is not an exception. He was mostly involved in our play during the corners.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain | 7.0:
He was constantly making attacking runs down his flank and when one of his balls came to Gibbs, it resulted in a cross-cum-shot and…it was 3:0.

Danny Welbeck |8.5:
It was a close battle between Welbeck and Özil for a MOTM-award. I went for Özil simply because the German scored with lesser attempts taken and could have gotten at least one more assist to his name had Ramsey reacted better. However, Welbeck showed again that he adds something different to our attack, something that we didn’t have even when Giroud was fit. He opened his account at Arsenal with a well-taken goal but it was his through ball for Özil’s opener that caught my eye. Hopefully, he will score on a regular basis from now on. Congratulations, Danny!

Substitutes:
Jack Wilshere| N/A:
Didn’t have enough playing time to make a mark but it was good to see him on the pitch after the injury scare.

Tomas Rosicky | N/A:
Same as Wilshere – it’s good to see himon the pitch. He tries to make something happen with his direct passing.

Lukas Podolski| N/A:
Was involved in one dangerous move at the end but it wasn’t meant to be.
