1. Give it some time You often don't like a fragrance at the first go... but gradually start loving it. This is because scents take some time to grow on you and get used to your body's smell (we all have a different body smell). Always give a new perfume the benefit of doubt. 2. Pick power points Wrists and behind the ears may be the traditional spots to apply fragrance, but these areas also produce a lot of sebum, which alters the smell of your perfume. Better places to spray are chest, biceps and the dips of your collarbone. 3. Never mix fragrances Most men tend to mix it all up by using shampoo, shower gel, deodorant hair gel, and cologne all in different fragrances. Avoid clashing of scents by opting for minimally-scented grooming products. 4. Use products of the same family Many fragrances have ancillary shower products, deodorants and aftershave balms. Pairing your favourite eau de toilette with other products from its body range creates a more powerful, longer lasting scent. There is no risk of scents clashing too. 5. Moisturising is the key to longevity The better hydrated your skin, the longer a fragrance lasts on it. So, to increase the longevity of your scent, use a fragrance- free moisturiser a few minutes before applying. If you have dry skin reapply your fragrance a little more often. 6. Carry your scent with you According to perfume experts, a fragrance leaves the skin after about four hours of applying it. Look out for travel-size (usually 30 ml) versions of your favourite fragrance or transfer it into a portable atomiser, which is pocket -sized and easy to fill. 7. Overdoing is a no-no A fragrance should never be overpowering; people do not wish to smell you before they see you! To ensure this, spray no more than thrice. If you happen to apply too much, dilute the fragrance by patting your skin with a warm wet towel. 8. Keep a safe distance Never hold the bottle too close to your skin when applying fragrance.Position the nozzle around six or seven inches away from you and then spray. This way, the coverage will be more . You can also apply some into the palm of your hand and wipe it over the upper body. 9. Handle with care Fragrances are much like wines; they need to be treated with care and stored correctly. To make sure they stay in tip- top condition, keep them away from extreme temperature fluctuations and strong sunlight. The best way to protect them is to keep them in their original boxes at a cool place. Tip: If you want to maximise the refreshing qualities of fresh, citrusy scents, try keeping them in the fridge. It turns them into the perfect tonic for soaring temperatures. 10. Stick to her right side A study by the of California discovered that women tend to appreciate smells sniffed through their right nostril more than the left one. So when you're wearing a scent to impress your woman, always be on her right side when talking to her! m.timesofindia.com/life-style/beauty/10-ways-to-maximise-the-impact-of-your-scent/articleshow/42441470.cms |
