Man beats brother-in-law to death

By Olalekan Adetayo

A 60-year-old man identified as James Akpan, in the early hours of Sunday, allegedly sniffed life out of his brother-in-law, Kingsley Udo, during a domestic scuffle.

Trouble reportedly started when Akpan, a resident of 25, Alhaji Abiola Street, Olowora, Isheri, accused Udo of abandoning his sister (Udo's wife) in the village.

The woman was allegedly abandoned shortly after she gave birth to a baby.

Udo's nonchalant attitude towards the well-being of the woman and the newborn baby was what drew Akpan's ire.

He reportedly confronted his in-law with the allegation at about 1am.

The hot words they exchanged later led to a fight.

Efforts made by neighbours to separate them failed as Akpan reportedly beat the 30-year-old in-law to death.

He was confirmed dead at a nearby hospital where he was rushed to.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Mr. Frank Mba, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone.

Mba, a superintendent of police, said that the suspect had been arrested and that investigation into the case was ongoing.

A source told our correspondent that Akpan is currently being held at the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti Street, Yaba.

Foolish man, sometimes i wonder when people will start using dialogue. Even if the guy still refuses to accept his sister back, he should use the LAW.
