ICRC is looking for young and energetic individuals who have good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate should have a sense of analysis and initiative, the ability to work independently and in a team. The above position demands flexibility and the ability to work under pressure.
1. Field Officer

Main Responsibilities

The candidate actively contributes to the implementation of ICRC activities in the domain of Reestablishment of family contacts between family members who have been separated because of the conflict in the North East of Nigeria.
He/she should be ready to travel in the region (mainly Borno and Yobe States) in order to implement these activities, observing ICRC security rules. He/she contributes to the assessment of the needs in this domain.
He/she identifies and registers children who have been separated from their families in order to trace their family and reunite them.
He/she offers help and services to people who have lost track with their family, in cooperation with the Nigerian Red Cross.
He/she ensures effective filing, efficient records keeping, timely reporting, and is ready to provide detailed and accurate statistics
He/she maintains regular contacts with various interlocutors in his area of responsibility, such as authorities at LGAs level, local NRCS branches, NGOs, population, etc.
He/she ensures implementation of priorities and working procedures as set by the delegation
He/she provides his knowledge of the environment.
He/she translates and interprets from Hausa/Kanuri to English, and vice versa, when required
He/she answers telephone calls from the beneficiaries
Receives or visits them when needed and provides them with the needed assistance according to the delegation’s policies and criteria.
Minimum required knowledge & experience:

High school or Professional school
Two years’ work experience in a similar field
Good command in written and spoken English, Hausa and Kanuri (French would be an asset)
Good computer skills
Good knowledge of the geographical and socio cultural environment
Good reporting and analytical skills

2. Polyvalent Field Officer

The above position demands flexibility and ability to work under pressure.

Fluent in written and spoken English, Hausa and Kanuri (Arabic, French an asset):

Conducts analysis of the general humanitarian situation and interacts with all interlocutors of the Sub-delegation to contribute and enhance network and understanding of the working environment;
Contributes to the implementation of projects (water sanitation, health, economic security, protection, communication, cooperation with Nigerian Red Cross, etc.);
Supports ICRC & and Nigerian Red Cross dialogue on principles of humanitarian action with various relevant groups (officials, civil societies, Islamic circles, traditional leaders and general population);
Assists the Head of Sub-delegation to develop contacts with a wide range of interlocutors, including religious-political leaders, civil societies, state officiate, heads of educational institutions (including Islamiyyas), media and other organizations;
Improves the quality of dialogue with ail interlocutors and in elaboration with the Head of Sub-delegation, Protection and Communication departments develops key messages of relevance to them;
Contributes to the analysis and synthesis of both humanitarian and security situation and impact on the general population and respective local economies;
Contributes to the development of appropriate curriculum for workshops and disseminations on humanitarian issues and treatment of protected persons;
Contributes to all operational reports concerning proposals of humanitarian projects, their implementation and general analysis of the situation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:

University degree (islamic law. political science, international relations, sociology, economy);
6 years’ work experience in humanitarian, governance or similar field of activity;
Excellent communication and presentation skills;
Excellent analytical and reporting skills; good organizational and interpersonal skills.
Confirmed capacity to analyze the political and social environment;
Frequent travel (40%) and work to LGAs in Bomo, Yobe and Adamawa States;
Very good computer literacy.

3. AirOps Field Officer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Co-ordinates all ramp activities and aircraft ground operations including the supervision of dally workers hired for the purpose of loading/off-loading of ICRC
Coordinates the movement of passengers, baggage; cargo and the mail through the airport and process these through customs and immigration;
Organizes the fuelling of ICRC aircraft and co-ordinate with other agencies at the airport such as customs, airport authorities, security personnel to ensure safe
Obtains airport passes for vehicles needed to enter the airport and monitors with the crew changes and/or amendments to the procedures relating to airport operations and security rules;
Processes all passenger and cargo through the airport and channels ail relevant communications related to aircraft operations;
Follows up aircraft movement to/from Maiduguri and within points in Nigeria so to relay information about ICRC aircraft and to liaise with all field stations to ensure smooth coordination of operations.
Assists the delegation in the coordination of emergency/medevac operations by air;
Facilitates government clearances (tax exemption, customs documentation, clearances, airport access) and aviation related formalities from various government offices.
Some of the personal skills required include: good in communication, networking, team work, adaptation, planning, organization and having an unruffled self-assurance;
Very good computer literacy.
Ability to work independently and capacity to take initiatives when appropriate;
Team-work oriented, with sound communication skills;
Punctual, reliable, confirmed organizational skills;
Sound empathy when dealing with people and officials;
Adaptability and capacity to integrate changes;
Ability to keep discretion and handling confidential , matters;
Sound capacity to strictly apply ICRC rules and working procedures

4. Communication Field Officer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides the sub-delegation with an analysis of general humanitarian situation monitors the news and collates and summarizes information from local and international media outlets.
Responsible for compiling all media reports and establishes good relations and interaction with media outlets.
Contributes to the quality of dialogue with ail interlocutors, also in collaboration with other departments, develops key messages of relevance to civil society groups, students, media, etc.
Contributes to the organization of dissemination workshops, round-tables, seminars and courses for various groups (students, communities, etc.)
Manages the Sub-Delegation’s library (photos, publications, videos, design flies, etc.).
Communicates and makes various presentations to different target groups (general population, students, universities, civil societies, media, etc.).
In collaboration with other departments, contributes to the development and production of dissemination tools.
Executives administrative and office work related to Communication Department.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:

University degree (communication, arts, journalism, Marketing);
3 years’ work experience in a similar field of activity;
Excellent knowledge of online communication;
Fluent in written and spoken English, Hausa and Kanuri (French an asset);
Excellent communication and presentation skills;
Excellent analytical and writing skills:
Good knowledge of the political, social and cultural assigned environment;
Ability to travel and work in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States:
Very good computer literacy
