Gyan To Speak On Journalist Beating And Refute Human Sacrifice Rumors In Press by wiringdpt(m): 7:20pm On Sep 23, 2014
If you thought you were having a bad day, at least you haven’t found it necessary to call a press conference in order to state that you didn’t murder your friend in an act of human sacrifice.

Such will be the day for Ghana national teamer and Al Ain striker Asamoah Gyan, who will refute non-sensical claims regarding the death of a friend on vacation (perhaps including one that he killed his friend to gain magical powers).

The 28-year-old forward has been near the center of controversy in his home country after the disappearance and perceived deaths of a pair of friends including famous Ghanian rapper Castro the Destroyer, and a subsequent beating of a journalist.

While on vacation with Gyan, Castro reportedly drowned trying to rescue his girlfriend after a jet ski accident at a resort in Ghana. The bodies have yet to be recovered.

Thanks to the gossip mill churning out tales that Castro was murdered by Gyan in the hopes of securing black magic gains, it all led to a brutal incident earlier this month where Gyan was asked by journalist Daniel Kenu whether he ritually sacrificed his friends. It understandably didn’t go over well.

From AwfulAnnouncing:

Months later, while attending a training session ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, Gyan was approached by a group of young men, who demanded Gyan to produce Castro’s body. It was here that he was accused of using Castro for a ritual sacrifice.

At the following press conference, having heard the accusations against Gyan, Kenu questioned Gyan on the matter, with the pretense of giving him the opportunity to once and for all cease the questioning. Gyan was upset by the question, as one would when accused of using a good friend for ritual sacrifice months after their disappearance. Unfortunately, Gyan took it a step further and needed to be restrained when he tried to confront Kenu.

Kenu was later badly beat-up by Gyan’s brother and a group of men for asking the question. This, combined with the awful rumors regarding Gyan — which by all accounts are at-best incredibly insensitive to a man who watched his friends die — have caused the player to call a press conference.

From AsamoahGyan3.com:

It will be recalled that Theophilus Tagoe (aka Castro) and Janet Bandu went missing while on a holiday hangout with Family and Friends of the Gyan’s at a resort in Ada back in July.

Relentless efforts are still being made to find the missing duo.

The press conference will therefore seek to update the public through the media on the status of investigations so far.

The opportunity will also be used to officially respond to some allegations and untruths bundled about in the media over the role of Asamoah Gyan in the duo’s disappearance.

The press meeting will also touch on the recent court case instigated by the Ashanti Regional editor of Graphic Communications Group Daniel Kenu against Baffour Gyan and Samuel Anim Addo.

It’s a wild and sensational story, but how intense must it be in Ghana for Gyan to find it necessary to comment on the story?
