According to the Onion article, it seems the women are expected to date and marry the free men. And it was a surprise! Make sure you read the entire news article .

Ok, it's not true, but if you watched the video of the what happened last year when she gave away free cars, you'll find it so funny. She was jumping up and down just like in the picture, shouting, "Everybody gets a car! Everybody gets a car!!" The woman were hysterical, jumping up and down, hugging each other, screaming, etc. It was the funniest thing I ever saw!

This is a wonderful idea for rehabilitation of male ex-convicts. Auction them off to lonely women on TV shows!
