Good evening, i sat down this evening and i decided to
write on my views on Nigerian Education system and
why it's not attracting international/foreign students.
Below are my views
1. THE NEED TO SCRAP SOME EXAMINATION BODY : You
won't expect an International student applying to Nigeria
tertiary institutions from countries like Lesotho, Togo,
Congo, Kenya, Costa Rica etc to come down to Nigeria
and get JAMB form. In a sane country, each universities
has her own way of screening students before admitting
them. The screening are usually based on essays or
something else, Then after being admitted student might
be screened using entrance examination just to know the
department that would work for his/her.
2. REMOVAL OF SELF/GOVERNMENT INTEREST : Nigeria
Government/school bodies increase school fees in a bid
to favouring their sole interest, students then respond to
the school fee Hike by shutting down the school all in
name of aluta. No International students would want to
study in country that would turn four years course to
seven years, they need not come to Nigeria to know how
Nigeria Tertiary Institutions strike even more than
football strikers, like; "Delima Ronaldo, Messi, Christian
Ronaldo, Di Maria or Emineke/ Osaze".
3. GOVERNMENT SHOULD FUND OUR INSTITUTIONS :
Government needs to fund our tertiary institutions and
invest more towards renovating the school
infrastructures, you won't expect international students
to apply to schools with little or no good infrastructure.
4. INSTITUTIONS NEED TO CREATE INTERNATIONAL
STUDENTS PORTAL : Have gone through almost 20
Nigeria universities websites and non have portal for
international students to apply, even schools in Ghana
and South Africa do. Have they lost the hope that
Nigerian Education system could attract international
students?. It is high time our institutions created
international students portal. Not just to attract
international students but also attracts foreign
scholarship partners.

The UK earns billions from foreign students. We used to do same...now we don't.

Best we improve our universities.,....especially as funding for your local university is set to fall over the next few years.
